The Return.

Bonjour. Hello. Hey. Yo. Well what can I say, not much really, I somehow lost track of myself and now it's been nearly 5 months since I last updated. So once again I need to get into a good mindset and keep myself motivated with my art. Anyhow back onto the main thing, my drawings, and so I shall not keep them to myself. Here's a collection of sketches I've done in my time away (not much but as I said my mind wandered and well let's say I've given myself a slap around the face with a big fat fish).

One Thousand Welcomes.

After a busy period at work and then a week's holiday, I have an update ready. Not quite what I was going to upload but as I have been away from my PC I haven't had the opportunity to develop much on my previous post. So you shall have to endure and be satisfied with these sketches I did whilst lazying around Northern Ireland.

All were inspired partly by my interest in some Diablo 3 concept artwork. Especially the design of the Evils present in the game.

A First.

After having this blog for a couple of months, I'm finally getting into the notion of doing art. Which for me is great. And at long last I can show some stages to a WIP (Work in Progress). This is a simple idea of a cloud surfing courier being chased by the police and nearly losing her package.

I'll keep on updating on this, probably next week, as I've got work tomorrow. And next will also be a debut of a sort, meeting some other local artists, so all in all. everything is great.

Show Time!

Well I never did manage to re-encode my old show-reel but it was suggested that I upload it to YouTube. And so I did. Well here it is.

Basically it's a video of the majority of the successful motion capture shoots and data I cleaned up on Vicon iQ then in-putted into MotionBuilder.

Fools and Demons.

The past couple of weeks I was part of a local art workshop in which I helped to design a couple of banners that included drawing and painting masks. This in turn gave me some ideas for a few drawings based around masks and how demonic they can look.

As I stated in my last post, I struggled with scanning some old sketches that I did in blue graphite but after some time spent with the settings I managed to get some decent results. Anyhow here they are.

Somehow rustled up an old sketch from my days when I used blue graphite for my sketching. Most of them didn't scan in particularly well but as I had gone over this one with ink. Currently attempting to compress a video of some more of the animation I did at University, here's hoping it'll pay off in the next few days.

Dedication.

Well as all artists have an inspiration, one of my fantasy art heroes is Paul Kidby (http://www.paulkidby.net). His work has probably fuelled most of my day dreams since I saw his first book cover illustrations on various Discworld books.

Here is a sketch that bears similarities to his swamp dragons. Enjoy.

Old School.

Well thought I'd share some of my past of exploits from my University days. The following video is the presentation video for my group project in my last year, essentially it was a group based dissertation to make a game engine and explorable world based on the myth of Robin Hood.

Here were some of sketches that I drew during my groups very important meetings ( ...in the pub).

Well that's all I could muster up as most of my work was lost when a hard drive decided to corrupt itself. Right will try to upload some more ideas later today.

Brief Return.

Greetings, been awhile and so I thought I'd just quickly post some more pictures. My plans for larger and painted pictures is progressing slowly mainly due to other commitments, that and my new habit of talking to myself into a voice recorder. Well it is more convenient than having to scribble it down on any piece of paper about. Anyway I'll stop babbling and go study some anatomy.

Just a small update whilst I'm busy with bigger projects. This is a sketch of a demon tempting a dog with a treat. Enjoy.

Some really weird animals. Well my take on what farm animals would look like on other worlds.

Might be a few days before I post again, as now I'm now comfortable in my drawing again I'll be attempting some large scale pictures. That and my acquisition of Photoshop will be taking up some of my time. 

Nature strikes back.

The first post for today or I hope so, anyway have three sketches all based upon, you guessed it, nature. First two are a slightly different take on elves. Everyone knows that they closely linked with nature and the forests and I tried to really incorporate the fact that they aren't nature loving but are part of the woodlands.

And the last for now, is a bi-pedal creature based upon roots which burrows it the ground to prey upon small animals.

Meet Slick and Brick...

Well only one sketch today but isn't just my imagination running wild on paper this time, actually had a backstory to this one.

Essentially these two petty criminals were sent to a maximum security prison intended for super villains due to overpopulation of other prisons, and we would follow the various escapades of these two as they wrestled to survive in a crowd of insane and freakish inmates.

Well been a long day but thought I'd try to get some more uploaded and well here I am. Have three reptilian soldiers in helmets, an offshoot from my orc designs. Also thrown in a older sketch from a recently rediscovered pad stored away in a dark corner of the house, was sketching ideas based on female warriors whilst incorporating an Aves (bird-like) helmet.
